This is one of my mum’s favourite tea-time treats. What i like about these is that you can add almost anything to flavour it, whether it be something sweet like chocolate, healthy like oats or savoury like cheese. It really can go with your mood.

Here is a basic scone recipe. I used a small cutter just for some fun. Size is really up to you . If you do not have cutters available, you can use the shape of like a jam jar, or even cutting the dough into squares. Have fun with this one . Happy baking!

SCONES

Ingredients

  • 3 cups self-raising flour
  • 100g margarine
  • pinch salt
  • 2 tblsp. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Rub the margarine into the flour, salt, and sugar using fingertips.
  2. Beat the eggs with the milk.
  3. Cut into the flour mixture just until a soft dough is formed.
  4. Cut into shapes on a lightly floured surface, brush with milk before baking.
  5. Bake until golden brown at 200C.
